Obituary for Lillian Mary Awde

AWDE, Lillian Mary (nee Gardener). It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mother/Grandmother on Monday, September 26, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at Norfolk General Hospital in her 88th year. Loving wife of 52 years of the late Doug (2003). Beloved mother of Brian, Barry(and Laurie), and Bruce(and Janette). Devoted Gramma to David (Kayla), Ashley (Josh), Coby (Garrett) and Canaan (Shelby) all which she felt were perfect in every way. Predeceased by her siblings, Walter, Margaret, Elsie and Edna. Favourite Aunt to Donelda(Bob) Garnett, Kervyne (Chris) LaRoque, Dave LaRoque, Riesa (Stan) Marcus-Venchuk, Pat (Roger) Carriere, Barb (Bob) Twiss, Joy Holt, and Kim Holt all of Western Canada, she shared a special bond with them all. Lil loved bowling in her younger years and has many trophies to prove her accomplishments. She loved to garden both fruits and vegetables and took great pride in her yield. Her wine store, which she ran for just shy of 35 years and up until her passing, gave her great joy and was her social network. She loved the Fire Department and the Lions, both of which her initial love for came from loving her husband and his interests; she subsequently became actively involved in helping them succeed in any way she could. She loved Blue Jays Baseball, especially when they won! The neighbourhood squirrel population will also mourn her as she kept them well fed throughout the year. Special thanks to the kind staff at Norfolk General Hospital & Juravanski Cancer Centre for their compassionate care. Friends may call at THOMPSONWATERS FUNERAL HOME 102 First Ave Port Dover (519)-583-1530 on Thursday, September 29 from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm. A Funeral service will be held in memory of Lillian on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 1 pm at Grace United Church, Port Dover. Rev. Jeff Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Port Dover Fire Department or Port Dover Lions Club. Online donations and or condolences can be made at www.thompsonwatersfuneralhome.ca
